Done deal: Bayern Munich sign ex-Super Eagles invitee who spent his formative years at Arsenal, Chelsea
Published: July 07, 2024
With a statement on their official website, German Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have announced the signing of former Super Eagles invitee Michael Olise.
The quad-national winger ended his three-year association with English Premier League club Crystal Palace after putting pen to paper on a five-year contract with Bayern, valid until the end of the 2028-2029 season.
Born in London, Olise progressed through the youth academies of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City before joining Reading, where he made his senior debut in March 2019.
He was on the books of Chelsea for seven years before he was released as a schoolboy.
The Blues were touted to be frontrunners for the signature of the France U23 international but withdrew from the race to sign the exciting winger, opting instead to place more trust in their current players.
The English-French-Nigerian-Algerian player has completed his move to Bayern Munich following a successful medical on Sunday.
In his first words as a player of the Bavarians, Olise stated: "The talks with FC Bayern were very positive, and I’m very happy to now be playing for such a big club.
"It's a great challenge, and that's exactly what I was looking for. I want to prove myself at this level and play my part in ensuring that we win as many titles as possible with our team in the coming years.”
Olise was named Crystal Palace's 2022-2023 Players' Player of the Season after becoming the first player to achieve double-digit assists in a single Premier League season.
