Newcastle linked with move for Super Eagles-eligible player with 46 appearances for Chelsea
Published: July 09, 2024
According to The Athletic (subscription required), Newcastle have made an enquiry about signing Super Eagles-eligible player Noni Madueke, who has made forty-six appearances in all competitions since landing at Chelsea in January 2023.
The Magpies want to add more potency to their attack with the signing of the Chelsea winger who was in good form toward the tail end of last season.
Newcastle relied heavily on Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak for goals last term with the duo combining for 32 goals in the Premier League and both ending the campaign as the top two top scorers in the English top-flight for Eddie Howe's side.
With the club missing out on European football, there is a need to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season with Madueke a target,
The England youth international won the trust of former Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino towards the end of last season, starting the last nine Premier League games and registering five goal involvements within that period.
The Blues are said to be in the market for a right winger which could affect his game time particularly under the club's new gaffer Enzo Maresca and that could lead to him considering a move away from West London.
Newcastle's interest in the former PSV forward is still at its infancy with the Tynesiders yet to table an official bid for him but it will be interesting how this unfolds in the coming days.
