'He's better than Osimhen' - Giuliani reckons Lukaku is more suited to Conte's game
Published: July 11, 2024
Reigning African Footballer of the Year Victor Osimhen has been compared with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku.
The Belgium international is being considered as a potential replacement for Osimhen if the Nigerian forward leaves the Diego Maradona Stadium this summer.
Marco Giuliani, a renowned sports lawyer, has added fuel to this debate by claiming that Lukaku is a better fit for Antonio Conte's style of play than Osimhen.
Giuliani's comments come amidst ongoing discussions about the best striking options for Napoli's new manager, Antonio Conte, ahead of the upcoming season.
Speaking to Tuttomercatoweb, Giuliani highlighted the attributes that make Lukaku a standout player under Conte's management.
"All in all, Lukaku is more suited to Conte's game than Osimhen. He has more technique and the ability to move the team up. If the Belgian is at the top, for me he is better than the Nigerian (Osimhen)," he said.
The comparison between Lukaku and Osimhen is particularly relevant as both strikers have been pivotal for their respective clubs.
Osimhen has been a revelation for Napoli, showcasing his pace, power, and goal-scoring prowess.
The Nigerian international has attracted interest from top clubs across Europe, and his performances have led to him being touted as one of the best center forwards in the world.
Last season, Osimhen scored 17 goals and provided 4 assists in 32 games, further cementing his status as a goal poacher.
On the other hand, Lukaku enjoyed a prolific spell under Conte at Inter Milan, playing a crucial role in the club's Serie A triumph.
In 2023-2024, Lukaku netted 21 goals and provided 4 assists in 47 appearances for AS Roma, proving he still has much to offer.
