Official: Neuchatel Xamax sign ex-Flying Eagles striker Paschal after scoring in friendly
Published: July 11, 2024
Swiss Challenge League club Neuchatel Xamax FCS have announced the signing of Nigerian attacker Paschal Onyekachi Durugbor – commonly known as Paschal - following a successful trial.
The two-time Super League champions have kept the contract's length and financial terms confidential.
Paschal was a member of the Flying Eagles squad to the 2019 U20 Africa Cup of Nations where he featured in three matches and was on target in the shootout loss to Mali in the semifinals.
The former Sporting Lagos striker is continuing his career after impressing the coaching staff of Neuchatel Xamax during two weeks of tests.
He is versatile as he can be deployed as a center forward, left winger and right winger.
Paschal's first experience in Europe was with Swedish club Växjö BK, before spells in Tunisia and Libya with AS Soliman and Al-Khums SC respectively.
For the forthcoming campaign, he has been assigned the number 22 jersey and could make his competitive debut against Stade-Lausanne-Ouchy on the opening day of the Challenge League season next Friday.
Paschal netted in the first minute as Neuchatel Xamax defeated FC Sion 3-0 in their fourth pre-season game on July 10.
