Osimhen suffering from muscle fatigue, absent from Napoli's training session Monday morning
Published: July 15, 2024
Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen missed Napoli's Monday morning training session due to a muscle fatigue.
Napoli, under the leadership of Antonio Conte, resumed training for the fifth day of pre-season, focusing on tactical tests in defense, development, and finalization phases, with some activities limited to the gym.
Osimhen, who trained in the gym on Sunday, was notably absent from the pitch on Monday.
According to reports from Tuttomercatoweb, the Nigerian forward is undergoing therapy due to muscle fatigue.
The future of Osimhen at Napoli remains uncertain, as top clubs have shown reluctance to meet the release clause in his contract.
Despite interest from clubs like Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, and recently PSG, none have been willing to pay the release clause, which is set between €120 million and €130 million.
Osimhen extended his contract with Napoli in December 2023 until 2026. The extension saw his salary increase to €10 million per season.
The 2015 Fifa U17 World Cup Golden Ball winner scored 15 goals and provided 3 assists in 25 league games last campaign after playing a pivotal role in helping Napoli secure the Scudetto during the 2022/2023 campaign.
