'This is something Chelsea will not do' - Fabrizio Romano insists PL club will not pay crazy money for Osimhen
Published: July 15, 2024
Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano is not ruling out Chelsea reigniting their interest in 2022/2023 Serie A Best Striker Victor Osimhen.
The Blues have always been an admirer of the 25-year-old and were considered one of the favorites to sign him but withdrew their interests to focus on younger forwards.
They were interested in signing Spanish-Nigerian striker Samu Omorodion but have receded their interest to focus on their pursuits of Karim Adeyemi and Jonathan David, which suggests that they are still in the market for a striker.
This has reignited the talk of the possibility of the Stamford Bridge outfit reigniting their interest in Osimhen whose desire is to leave Napoli for the Premier League.
Speaking on the possibility of that to happen on his YouTube channel, Romano stated that Chelsea will only sign the Super Eagles striker if the conditions are right
"Chelsea will not pay crazy money. €120m, €12m salary net, this is something Chelsea will not do."
"If the conditions for the deal of Osimhen will be different in maybe some weeks, we will see. But as of today, Chelsea will not go for Osimhen at crazy conditions."
"It is the same with Olise, other players. Chelsea would only do these deals if the real cost is going to be different "
Osimhen has a huge release clause and while Napoli are ready to let him leave, they will only do so if they get the right offer from any interested club.
Should Napoli's stance remain unchanged til the end of the transfer window, it is difficult to see how Chelsea go on to sign the Nigerian striker.
