Nottingham Forest working on a deal to re-sign Arsenal's Hale End product Akpom
Published: July 16, 2024
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that English Premier League club Nottingham Forest are working on a deal to re-sign Arsenal's Hale End Academy product Chuba Akpom in the ongoing summer transfer window.
The Super Eagles hopeful is a Nottingham Forest alum, having spent a portion of the 2014-2015 season at the two-time European champions, on loan from Arsenal.
Nottingham Forest have reignited their interest in Akpom after Ajax Amsterdam blocked his potential return to the City Ground in the January transfer window.
Nuno Espírito Santo's side escaped relegation by the whiskers last season, having finished six points adrift of the relegation zone and as result want to bolster their squad by injection of more quality players.
Forest have already signed Elliot Anderson from Newcastle United, Marko Stamenic, Carlos Miguel and Eric da Silva Moreira from Red Star Belgrade, Corinthians and FC St. Pauli respectively and now want to add Akpom to the list of their summer acquisitions.
With former Liverpool star Divock Origi returning to AC Milan after the expiration of his loan spell and Taiwo Awoniyi's consistent fitness issues, it is not surprising to see Santo interested in bolstering his attacking options.
Akpom is angling for a move away from Ajax due to a lack of first team opportunities, having made only eleven starts from a possible 43 in all competitions last season, logging 1,519 minutes.
Statistically speaking, the 2022-2023 Championship Golden Boot winner demonstrated he has not lost his goalscoring touch after bagging 15 goals in 36 matches.
Akpom made seven appearances for Nottingham Forest in his spell with the club nine years ago.
