Trabzonspor prepared to wait until the last moment to sign Southampton striker Onuachu

According to reports in Turkey, Trabzonspor are ready to wait until the last moment to sign Southampton center forward Paul Onuachu in the summer transfer window.
The Turkish side, who have completed their pre-season training camp in Hungary, are hoping to re-sign the Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu following a successful loan spell.
Onuachu joined Trabzonspor on a season-long loan last summer after a challenging stint at Southampton, where he struggled to find form, scoring no goals or assists in 11 Premier League appearances.
However, the Nigerian forward rediscovered his scoring touch in the Super Lig, netting 15 goals and providing 4 assists in 21 league games, contributing significantly to Trabzonspor's third-place finish behind Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
Speaking from the Hungarian camp, Trabzonspor manager Abdullah Avcı emphasized the team's need for a center forward.
"The center forward does not necessarily have to be with us in the first week. The important thing is to bring the right player to the team in the right way and at the right time," he was quoted as saying by Sabah.
Despite negotiations proving challenging with Southampton, Trabzonspor remain patient in their pursuit of Onuachu.
The club believe Southampton may lower their high transfer fee demands for the 30-year-old Nigerian striker if they fail to secure desired offers from other teams.
Onuachu rose to prominence after a successful spell in Belgium, where he scored 79 goals in 114 Jupiler Pro League appearances in the regular season for Genk before departing in January 2023.
He has also represented Nigeria, earning 25 caps and scoring three goals for the national team.
