Golden Eaglets-eligible midfielders sign new contracts with Arsenal ahead of 2024-2025 season
Published: July 17, 2024
Arsenal youth expert Jeorge Bird has confirmed that Arsenal have given seven youngsters, including two Golden Eaglets-eligible players, scholarship deals ahead of the 2024-2025 season.
As revealed by Bird, box-to-box midfielder Andre Annous and versatile midfielder Ifeoluwa Ibrahim have agreed two-year scholarship contracts with the Gunners.
In their final season as schoolboys, Annous scored two goals in seven outings in the U18 Premier League, while Ibrahim played in ten games.
Annous scored his first goal in the eight-goal thriller against Brighton & Hove at the Elite Football Performance Centre in April before netting another against Norwich City.
The talented midfielder trained with Arsenal's first team in March before their Premier League clash against Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium, a proof of how highly rated he is.
Like Annous, Ibrahim also made his debut of the bench for the U18s against Southampton and played in the London derbies against Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea respectively in May.
The 16-year-old is naturally a midfielder but can also play a role in defense, particularly at right back where he featured often last season.
Other players who have been confirmed as scholars include Louis Zecevic John, Theo Julienne, Khari Ranson, Sam Chapman and Ceadach O'Neill.
Goalkeeper Owen Asemota, history-making center forward Chido Obi-Martin, Josh Ogunnaike and Samuel Onyekachukwu were also offered scholarships for the 2024-2025 season.
