'Has informed his own club' - Trabzonspor chief provides transfer update on Southampton striker Onuachu
Published: July 18, 2024
Trabzonspor President Ertuğrul Doğan has expressed his confidence about reaching an agreement with Southampton over the acquisition of Paul Onuachu.
There has been a back and forth discussion between the two clubs regarding the Super Eagles striker but it is likely that both reach an agreement before the end of the transfer window.
Southampton were demanding €15m from Trabzonspor for the lanky forward but the Turkish oufift have been reluctant to meet that valuation and had reportedly proposed another loan deal.
With the Saints holding out for an outright sale, the Black Sea Storm have also upped the ante after the former dropped their valuation.
Speaking on the progress of the purchase of the Nigerian forward, Doğan confirmed that Southampton have reduced their demands and is optimistic of reaching an agreement with the English Premier League new boys.
In quotes relayed by Günebakış, the Turkish administrator said: "The 15 million euros fee regarding Onuachu has dropped to 10 million euros.
"We have also increased a little. Onuachu has also informed his own club that he will not go to another club. I think we will meet at a middle point soon."
There is no doubt regarding Onuachu's desire to join Trabzonspor as it has been reported that he has reached personal agreement with the club.
The 30-year-old got his career back on track last season with the seven-time Turkish champions and it is not surprising that he is keen on staying with them after his struggles at Southampton.
