Allnigeriasoccer.com can report with certainty that exciting Nigeria-eligible forward Tyrique George has been named in Chelsea's traveling squad to the United States, where the first team will continue their preparations ahead of the forthcoming season.
New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been running the rule over the England U18 international of Nigerian descent since the start of pre-season preparations, with a view to including him in his squad list for the trip to USA.
Several Chelsea first teamers have not yet reported for pre-season training as a result of their involvement in confederation tournaments this summer, including Marc Cucurella, Conor Gallagher, Cole Palmer and Enzo Fernandez
The 18-year-old George is not new to the first team environment at Chelsea, having trained with the senior players on multiple occasions at the backend of last season, where he received three call-ups for Premier League matches.
The Cobham product was not utilized off the bench against Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur.
He had a banner season in 2023-2024, registering double figures in goals and assists for Chelsea youth teams.
George has made a name for himself for scoring spectacular goals and was nominated for Chelsea's Goal of the Month five times last season but missed out on the awards
Following the winger's impressive form at academy level, Chelsea rewarded him with a new deal that will keep him at Stamford Bridge until at least the end of the 2026-2027 season.
Chelsea will start their tour of the United States with a game against Arthur Okonkwo's Wrexham at Levi's Stadium, Santa Clara, California on Wednesday, July 24, followed by matches against Celtic, Club America, Manchester City and Real Madrid.
