Published: July 30, 2024
PAOK are on the verge of announcing the signing of Super Eagles-eligible attacking midfielder Shola Shoretire following his departure from Manchester United.
The Manchester United academy product landed in Thessaloniki on Monday night to complete his transfer to the Greek Super League champions.
Subject to passing a routine medical today, Shoretire will put pen to paper on a four-year contract, keeping him at PAOK until the end of the 2027-2028 season, gazzetta.gr has reported.
PAOK are in the market for offensive reinforcements before the start of the season and have already brought in another player of African descent in Dutch-born Morocco international Tarik Tissoudali, while CSKA Moscow star Fedor Chalov is a player of interest.
Upon Shoretire's arrival at the airport, he was welcomed by PAOK fans who asked for pictures and autographs.
In his last season as a Manchester United player, the 20-year-old captained the development squad, registering nine goals and four assists in twelve appearances combined in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy.
Overall, he has played in twenty-one official matches as a professional, comprising five in the colours of Manchester United and sixteen during a loan spell at Bolton Wanderers in the second half of the 2022-2023 season.
Nigerian duo Nelson Abbey (Olympiakos) and Moses Odubajo (AEK Athens) who are both products of English academies are currently on the books of Greek Super League clubs, with Shoretire set to follow in their footsteps.
