Confirmed: Nigerian wing-back signs new deal with West Ham United
Published: July 31, 2024
With a statement on their official website, Premier League club West Ham United have announced that talented Nigerian wing-back Emeka Adiele has committed his future to the Hammers by signing a new deal.
The versatile fullback marked his seventeenth birthday on Wednesday, July 31 by putting pen to paper on his first professional contract.
Adiele has been rewarded with his first pro deal following his outstanding performances for the academy teams.
He made his debut in the U18 Premier League at the age of 15 and played in his first game in the Premier League 2 back in April, coming off the bench for the last 35 minutes of a 2-0 win at Norwich City.
Adiele has also made debuts in the FA Youth Cup and Premier League International Cup.
In his first year as a scholar, he directly participated in nine goals (4 goals, 5 assists) in the U18 Premier League.
Adiele started for West Ham's development squad in their pre-season matches with Ebbsfleet and Maidenhead, and was named in the traveling squad for a training camp in Spain.
He is aiming to train with the Hammers first team team in the forthcoming season and hopes to make his professional debut in the coming years.
