Published: August 06, 2024
Chelsea have stepped up their interest in Spain U23 international of Nigerian descent Samu Omorodion and are on the verge of completing a move for the Granada academy product.
This is premised on Fabrizio Romano report stating that Chelsea have agreed to pay Atletico Madrid £35m for the Spain-born forward with the completion of deal resting on Julián Álvarez move to the Spanish side.
Álvarez's move to Atletico Madrid is now imminent as the club have agreed a €95m fee with Manchester City for the services of the 2022 FIFA World Cup winner.
Chelsea have also agreed personal terms with Omorodion who is set to sign a seven-year contract with the club, in line with their amortisation policy.
Under the Blues' current management, priority has been given to signing youngsters with Omorodion now set to join Marc Guiu, Caleb Wiley, Renato Viega and Omari Kellyman as the youngsters signed by the Premier League giants this summer.
Omorodion was one of the best youngsters in the Spanish La Liga last season though didn't finish the season strongly as he started but did enough to attract the interest of Chelsea.
He spent the campaign on loan at Deportivo Alavés and started 21 games in the Spanish La Liga, notching eight goals across the campaign.
