2023 AFCON Most Valuable Player Troost-Ekong agrees move to Saudi Arabia's Al-Kholood
Published: August 06, 2024
2023 Africa Cup of Nations Most Valuable Player William Troost-Ekong is on the move again just a year after joining Greek outfit PAOK.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, the former Watford defender is now set to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Kholood after an agreement was reached between the club and PAOK for his services.
Personal terms have also been agreed with a medical now set to take place before the completion of the deal and will also be Al-Kholood's eighth signing of this transfer window.
The move will see him reunite with Norbert Gyömbér whom he played with during his time at Italian side Salernitana as the latter has also joined the Saudi Arabian outfit on a free this summer.
Troost-Ekong joined PAOK last campaign but played the Lion's share of last season on the sidelines, though also played a part in their Greek Super League triumph, having started 10 of the 14 games he was named in the matchday squad.
After playing a vital role for the Super Eagles at AFCON, he picked up an injury which ruled him out for the rest of the season but is back to full fitness and featured in PAOK's UEFA Champions League qualification games against FK Borac Banja Luka.
He has now come to the end of his stay with the Greek champions and will now join Odion Ighalo in the money-spinning Saudi Pro-League.
