'Good to see you' - Midtjylland coach gatecrashes Ferencvarosi forward Kehinde interview after UCL clash
Published: August 07, 2024
Manager Thomas Thomasberg chose to interrupt an interview when he saw his former player Tosin Kehinde talking to the press after FC Midtjylland's match against Ferencvaros.
The Danish Superliga side hold a two-goal advantage before their trip to Budapest for the return leg of the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, thanks to goals from Adam Buksa and Franculino at the MCH Arena on Tuesday.
Manchester United academy graduate Kehinde has returned to full fitness after spending several months on the sidelines due to a serious injury in his first season at Ferencvaros.
The former Nigeria U23 invitee started and was in action for 76 minutes in the Champions League qualifier, while another ex-Nigeria youth team invitee, Midtjylland goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri, was rooted to the bench for the entirety of the game.
Before the UCL qualifier, Thomasberg had stated that he was looking forward to seeing Kehinde again, and the reunion was also completed after the final whistle.
When the Ferencvaros forward was being interviewed by bold.dk post-match, Thomasberg interrupted the discussion.
"Good to see you, " said Thomas Thomasberg, while he gave Kehinde a big hug, before the Ferencvaros player came up with a cheeky answer.
"It was also good to see you until the match started," Kehinde said.
Thomasberg is the coach that Kehinde has worked with the most throughout his career, when they were at Randers from 2019 to 2023, with the Nigerian making 115 appearances under him and registering 27 goal involvements (10 goals, 17 assists).
