Apart from Tella, another Nigerian forward who supports Arsenal named in Leverkusen travelling squad
Published: August 07, 2024
Super Eagles forward Nathan Tella joined Bayer Leverkusen for their trip to London, where they will participate in a friendly match against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.
The Hale End Academy graduate, who supports Arsenal to this day, will be accompanied by Victor Boniface, a fellow Nigerian and a lifelong Arsenal fan.
Victor Boniface had earlier expressed his admiration for the north London club.
In an interview with The Obi One Podcast earlier this year, he shared his deep-rooted affection for Arsenal, saying, "For me, right from a young age, I’ve supported Arsenal all my life."
As the much-anticipated clash approaches on Wednesday evening, Bayer Leverkusen's official X account shared a post showing the team departing for London.
The post included four pictures, one of which featured Victor Boniface, who played a crucial role in Xabi Alonso's title-winning squad last season in the Bundesliga.
Boniface had a standout season, scoring 14 goals and providing 8 assists in 23 league appearances, ensuring Leverkusen clinched the Bundesliga title without suffering a single defeat.
The friendly match against Arsenal will serve as an excellent opportunity for Bayer Leverkusen to test their squad ahead of the new season, while for Tella and Boniface, it represents a chance to showcase their skills and preparation against a top side ahead of the resumption of the upcoming season.
