MLS club New England Revolution on brink of deal for Super Eagles midfielder
Published: August 09, 2024According to transfer market reporter Sacha Tavolieri, Major League Soccer side New England Revolution are on the brink of signing Super Eagles midfielder Alhassan Yusuf.
The United States-based club have reportedly reached an agreement with Royal Antwerp for the services of the Nigeria international for a €3m fee with a three and half years contract ready to be handed to him.
New England Revolution compete in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer and are in dire need of reinforcements at the moment due to their precarious position.
They sit bottom of the Eastern Conference with 23 points garnered from 23 games, though have played two games less than other teams and are obviously willing to reinforce their squad with the addition of Yusuf.
The 24-year-old featured in 42 games across all competitions last season though was unable to secure a regular spot in the Reds starting lineup and managed just one goal.
Royal Antwerp want to dispose of Yusuf due to their financial situation which informed their decision to sell his compatriot George Ilenikhena who has joined AS Monaco.
The energetic midfielder joined the Jupiler Pro League side in the summer of 2021 from IFK Göteborg Fotboll and has featured in 116 games across all competitions for the club.
