Cobham products: Solanke becomes Bournemouth's most expensive sale with Tottenham move, beating Aké
Published: August 10, 2024
Super Eagles-eligible center forward Dominic Solanke has completed his historic move to Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur.
The one-cap England international ended his five-year association with Bournemouth after putting pen to paper on a deal that will run until the summer of 2030.
Although the transfer fee has not been disclosed as per club policy, Bournemouth have officially informed that the Anglo-Nigerian player has joined Tottenham Hotspur for a club record fee.
Solanke has moved to Tottenham in exchange for a significant financial package - the largest Bournemouth have ever received for a player.
Renowned transfer market reporter David Ornstein has confirmed that Solanke has joined Spurs for a fee of £65 million, which makes the Chelsea-reared striker the most expensive player sold by Bournemouth.
Another Cobham product in Nathan Aké held the record before it was broken by Solanke, with the central defender transferring to Manchester City in August 2020 for a fee of £41 million.
In 216 all-competition appearances for Bournemouth during his time at the Vitality Stadium, Solanke directly participated in 108 goals (77 goals, 31 assists), cementing his status as a club icon.
He began his career with Tottenham's London neighbors Chelsea, where he spent thirteen years, during which he won the prestigious FA Youth Cup on two occasions and the 2014-2015 UEFA Youth League.
When the forward was handed his UEFA Champions League debut by Jose Mourinho in October 2014, he became Chelsea's youngest-ever player to feature in the competition.
