Felix Uduokhai: Hoffenheim target German-Nigerian player as alternative to Southampton centre-back
Published: August 14, 2024
TSG Hoffenheim are considering a move for Super Eagles-eligible defender Felix Uduokhai who is also wanted by Eintracht Frankfurt.
According to Sky Sport Germany transfer reporter Florian Plettenberg, Hoffenheim will make a move to sign the Augsburg centre back if they fail to land either Southampton defender Armel Bella-Kotchap or RB Salzburg's Oumar Solet.
The deal to sign Bella-Kotchap and Solet is on the verge of collapsing due to the issues that arose during their medicals and as a result Hoffenheim are now exploring other options with Uduokhai emerging as one of their targets.
The German Bundesliga side have only Nigeria international Kevin Akpoguma and Hungarian defender Attila Szalai as their only fit and experienced centre-backs at the moment but there is a risk of losing the latter who he is being linked with Sevilla.
Due to the lack of depth in the central heart of defence, they want to secure the signing of another experienced central defender which could be Uduokhai.
There is no discussion ongoing yet between Hoffenheim and Augsburg regarding the signing of the 26-year-old but an asking price of €4m has been placed on him.
The German-born defender is also on the radar of Eintracht Frankfurt as they need a replacement for Willian Pacho who has left for Paris Saint-Germain.
