Paris Saint-Germain cool interest in signing N228b-rated Napoli striker Osimhen
Published: August 19, 2024According to L'Equipe (subscription required), Paris Saint-Germain have cooled their interest in signing reigning African Player of the Year Victor Osimhen, who is valued in the region of 130 million euros (approximately N228 billion) by Napoli.
The French giants' squad have been depleted due to the ankle injury picked up by Gonçalo Ramos during their Ligue 1 opening clash against Le Havre at the Stade Océane last Friday, as the striker was replaced by Randal Kolo Muani in the 20th minute of the clash.
The injury will force Ramos to be sidelined for around three months and as a result the Parisians are reportedly in search for a replacement for the Portuguese striker.
This led to that reactivation of reports linking Osimhen to PSG but latest information from L'Equipe is that the French giants are unlikely to sign him before the end of the transfer window.
The reigning French champions will reportedly try to make up for the loss of Ramos internally by assessing their available options before deciding to sign a new forward.
This development could be a boost for Chelsea who are still interested in getting the Nigeria international this summer but have to find a way to get the deal done.
The Blues opened their Premier League campaign with a 2-0 loss to Manchester City yesterday and missed a host of chances in the encounter which has heightened the call to sign a new striker.
