Transfer market guru Gianluca Di Marzio expects Napoli to receive last-minute offers for Osimhen
Published: August 20, 2024Transfer market guru Gianluca Di Marzio has reiterated that Victor Osimhen is angling for a move away from the Diego Maradona Stadium and reckons that Napoli are likely to receive last-minute offers for their number 9.
The future of the reigning African Footballer of the Year has not been resolved, ten days before the end of the transfer window.
Two clubs credited with an interest in Osimhen, Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal, have pulled out of the race for his signature, leaving Chelsea as the only European team considering a move for the 25-year-old.
The aforementioned clubs have been frightened by Osimhen's huge release clause of 130 million euros, in these days of Financial Fair Play requirements.
Despite Arsenal not having a legitimate number 9 at the moment, manager Mikel Arteta has confirmed that the north London club will not be buying a center forward because he has faith in Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz.
At the start of the transfer window, Paris Saint-Germain offered 200 million euros to sign Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but Napoli declined, insisting on keeping the Georgia international for at least another season.
Gianluca Di Marzio revealed that there is no concrete offer for Osimhen at the moment and has not ruled out teams making bids below his release clause in the final days of the transfer window.
In quotes relayed by Area Napoli, he said: "There is still room for him to leave, last minute offers could arrive that will never be what Napoli expected .
"They will never come close to the clause, but there is also that small possibility that he could stay, perhaps together with Lukaku . In fact, the blue club is also trying to take the Belgian on its terms".
Di Marzio added: "Who's in control? The market, in the sense that we need to understand who will arrive by August 30 and if a suitable offer will arrive so that Napoli can accept it and resolve the situation and, perhaps, unblock other market operations. In any case, Osimhen wants to leave Napoli".
Victor Osimhen is ready to wait until the end of the transfer window for a transfer to happen.
