'Lookman should have respect for Atalanta' - Padovano questions forward's attitude after interest from PSG
Published: August 21, 2024
Former Crystal Palace forward Michele Padovano has called out Ademola Lookman for trying to force a move away from Atalanta after reportedly being approached by Paris Saint-Germain.
The Super Eagles forward had played the entire duration of the UEFA Super Cup clash between Atalanta and Real Madrid but abruptly missed training for the Serie A opening clash against Lecce.
It was then gathered that Lookman had told the club that he wanted to leave and they decided toomit him from the squad that faced Lecce on Monday at Stadio Comunale Via del Mare.
The UEFA Europa League champions didn't miss the absence of their star forward as they won the clash 4-0, courtesy of a brace apiece from Marco Brescianini and Mateo Retegui.
Padovano has taken to his social media account to blast Lookman for his behavior, and to justify his criticism, he cited how Atalanta helped the former RB Leipzig man get his career back on track.
"Lookman should have respect for Atalanta because in previous years he hasn't really exploded," Padovano said according to Calcio Atalanta.
"Atalanta gave him the opportunity to become an important player and this attitude doesn't do him credit"
PSG have ended their interest in signing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations star despite the injury to Gonçalo Ramos, leaving the chances of him leaving Atalanta slim unless there is interest elsewhere.
There have been reports linking him to Liverpool and Arsenal but nothing is concrete at the moment.
