Ibrahim Hafiz Umar seals transfer to Stade de Reims after Chelsea opted against signing him
Published: August 31, 2024According to Fabrizio Romano, Nigerian striker Ibrahim Hafiz Umar has sealed a move to Ligue 1 outfit Stade de Reims after Chelsea decided not to sign him.
As exclusively reported by allnigeriasoccer.com five days ago, the Blues were not impressed with the Ojodu City Academy starlet, deeming him not suitable for their recruitment strategy.
After his trial with Bodo/Glimt, the teenage striker underwent another with Chelsea in March but could not convince the club to add him to the Nigerian prodigious talents in their ranks already in the shape of Carney Chukwuemeka, Noni Madueke and Lesley Ugochukwu who has now been loaned to Southampton.
Umar has now been able to get his dream move to a top five European League club, Reims, where he will be hoping to continue his career progression.
The French side's academy have produced a host of players down the years, one of which includes Hugo Ekitiké who was on the books of Paris Saint-Germain until recently when he joined Eintracht Frankfurt.
Umar grabbed the attention of European clubs after his marvelous performance at the Viareggio Cup where he won the Golden Boot and must now learn the ropes of playing European football during his stay with Reims
