Victor Osimhen was forced to watch from the stands as Galatasaray maintained their perfect start to the 2024-2025 season, beating Gaziantep FK 3-1 in a rescheduled Süper Lig fixture played at the RAMS Park on Tuesday night.
The 25-year-old was not a Galatasaray player when the match was supposed to be played and, as a result, was ineligible to feature in the encounter.
Galatasaray didn't ruin the absence of the star striker as they made light work of the visitors, scoring three goals before the away side managed to pull one back late in the game.
Baris Alper Yilmaz opened the scoring in the 11th minute, firing a first-time effort from outside the area into the bottom corner to score for the second consecutive game.
Yunus Akgun gave the home side a two-goal cushion in the 26th minute before Mitchy Batsuayi put the icing on the cake for the reigning Süper Lig champions with a sweet volley in the 76th minute.
Furkan Soyalp were able to pull one back in the 81st minute after Galatasaray goalkeeper Fernando Muslera had left his line.
Osimhen will be back in action when the Yellow-Reds face Fenerbahçe in a top-of-the-table clash at the Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium.
Galatasaray have fifteen points from the opening five games in the Super Lig and have scored seventeen goals while conceding four.
