Official: After Frank Onyeka, Brentford loan out another Nigerian player to European club
Published: September 23, 2024
According to a statement on the club's official website, Brentford have announced that Val Adedokun has joined Hungarian outfit Diósgyőri VTV on a season-long loan.
This comes after the Bees loaned out Super Eagles midfielder Frank Onyeka to German Bundesliga side Augsburg.
Onyeka has had a good start to life with Augsburg, getting an assist on his debut and Adedokun will also be hoping to make a good start with his new club.
The young defender has been an integral part of the B team and played a part in their Premier League Cup triumph in the 2022/2023 season.
The Nigerian left back served as the captain last season, demonstrating his defensive and leadership qualities as well as showing his capacity to influence the game in the attacking third.
The 21-year-old registered four goals including a match-winning strike against Leicester City in the Premier League Cup group stage.
Having impressed for the B team, he got an invite to the first team and was named among the substitutes in five Premier League games last season.
During the last pre-season, the Irish-born fullback featured for Thomas Frank's side against Lille, Brighton & Hove Albion and Watford but he hasn't been named in the matchday squad since the start of the season
With opportunities hard to come by with the first team, he has joined Diósgyőri to garner more experience of playing professionally.
They have shipped in seven goals in the opening seven games of the Nemzeti Bajnokság, the Hungarian topflight and could make do with the addition of Adedokun.
