What Sevilla forward Ejuke said after becoming the 24th Nigerian player to score in La Liga

Speaking after helping Sevilla beat Real Valladolid  2-1 in the Spanish La Liga fixture played at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium yesterday, Chidera Ejuke expressed his delight upon netting the winning goal in the fixture.

David Torres' own goal had given Sevilla the lead, but Kike Pérez gave Real Valladolid the equalizer, before Ejuke stepped up to help the home side avoid dropping more points.

Five minutes before the end of the normal stoppage time, the Super Eagles forward skillfully glided past his markers before putting a low strike past the goalkeeper and somersaulted in celebration.

By scoring in the game, he became the 24th Nigerian player to score in La Liga joining Christopher Ohenhen, Finidi George, Ikechukwu Uche, Kalu Uche, Mutiu Adepoju, Samuel Chukwueze, Odion Ighalo, Obafemi Martins, Isaac Success, Umar Sadiq, Victor Obinna, Ramon Azeez, Rashidi Yekini, Bartholomew Ogbeche, Nosa Igiebor, Elderson Echiejile, Chrisantus Uche, Brown Ideye, Moses Simoon, Nduka Ugbade, Emmanuel Amunike, Oghenekaro Etebo and Kenneth Omeruo.

The 26-year-old had come off the bench to replace club legend Jesus Navas and club manager García Pimienta must have been delighted with the contribution of the dazzling winger.

Speaking to Sevilla's YouTube channel after the clash, Ejuke his delight to get off the mark for the Rojiblancos, particularly in front of the fans at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium

“It's amazing you know. To score at home in front of the fans you know. To also get a win, it is a amazing feeling. I am really happy, I am really buzzing right now,” Ejuke said.

The left winger's strike was also his first goal involvement for Sevilla and he has now made six appearances for the club, featuring in all but one game since the start of the campaign.
