Ademola Lookman has won an award in Italy ahead of Nigeria's upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Libya's Mediterranean Knights.
The Charlton Athletic academy product and his international teammates flew out to Benghazi on Sunday, two days before the matchday four fixture.
Europa League holders Atalanta, through their official website, announced today that Lookman has been named the club's Player of the Month for September 2024.
On the international stage, he netted a brace as the Super Eagles thrashed Gernot Rohr's Benin 3-0 on September 7.
The Super Eagles forward was crowned by the Nerazzurri fans as the club's most outstanding player for September on the official Atalanta App.
Lookman marked his season debut by providing an assist and scoring the game-winning goal as Atalanta overturned a deficit to defeat Fiorentina 3-2, and claimed the Man of the Match award.
The following game, the Ballon d'Or nominee also got on the scoresheet but it counted for nothing as Atalanta were beaten 3-2 by Cesc Fàbregas' Como.
With three goal involvements in September, Lookman was picked as the Player of the Month, winning the gold medal ahead of Lazar Samardžić and Retegui.
The 26-year-old has been rejuvenated since his arrival in Atalanta from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2022 and has been named the club's Player of the Year in back-to-back seasons.
