Orlando Pirates confirm injured Super Eagles defender Ndah will not play again until 2025
Published: October 16, 2024
There is no chance Olisa Ndah will be invited for the Super Eagles' 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Benin's Cheetahs and Rwanda's Wasps in November 2024.
Today, Wednesday, South African giants Orlando Pirates confirmed through the club's official website that the Buccaneers will be without key defender Olisa Ndah on Saturday when they take on newly promoted club Magesi FC at the Orlando Stadium in their Carling Black Label Cup opener.
Ndah was not called up for the Super Eagles' Afcon qualifier against the Mediterranean Knights due to injury.
The central defender has not figured for Orlando Pirates since he sustained an injury in a Premiership clash with Polokwane City on September 24.
Due to the ailment, Ndah has missed back-to-back games, including the MTN8 final against Stellenbosch FC just before the international break.
His injury is worse than first feared, as the Buccaneers' medical team has confirmed that the 26-year-old sustained a tibia fracture and will be sidelined for the remainder of the year.
Prior to Ndah's spell on the sidelines, he played in nine matches across all competitions, scoring one goal.
He joined Orlando Pirates in the summer of 2021, after helping Akwa United win the league title.
