'Only had two minor injuries' - Bayer Leverkusen provide update on Boniface after serious car accident
Published: October 20, 2024Bayer Leverkusen have provided an update on the condition of Super Eagles star forward Victor Boniface who was involved in a car accident.
It has been an eventful week for the Nigerian striker, who was part of the squad that got maltreated by the Libyan authorities ahead of the Super Eagles clash with the Mediterranean Knights last Tuesday.
Off the back of that incident, the Nigerian striker shared videos and pictures of his involvement in an accident on Sunday morning which raised concern about his well-being.
Boniface was said to be on his way to the airport to pick up his friends when the accident happened but wasn't driving the car as it could be seen from the video he shared that he was looking into the mirror and enjoying some music.
From the pictures he shared, the car was badly damaged and the video of his hand being soiled in blood was evidence of how fatal the accident was.
When asked by German newspaper Bild about the condition of the 23-year-old, Bayer Leverkusen revealed that he was fine and only sustained an injury to his hands.
"He is fine. Boniface only had two minor injuries to his hand," Bayer Leverkusen stated.
After missing a penalty in the Black and Reds 2-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt yesterday, he went on to score the winning goal to hand them their fourth win in the Bundesliga this term.
