'Unsaveable by 2 or 3 GKs' - Ex-Chelsea star lauds Cobham product Aina for spectacular Forest goal
Published: November 03, 2024Former Chelsea star and English Football Hall of Famer, Karen Carney has lauded Cobham product Ola Aina for his spectacular strike during the closing minutes of Nottingham Forest's 3-0 rout of West Ham United in a Premier League encounter at the City Ground on Saturday evening.
Lionesses legend Karen Carney knows a thing or two about Aina as they were both on the books of Chelsea from 2015-2019.
The Nigeria international rounded off the scoring with the pick of the goals in the 78th minute when he bulldozed his way through before firing a shot into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area to seal the win.
Although Aina's goals in the Premier League are few and far between, the Chelsea alum is beginning to carve out a reputation for scoring spectacular goals.
The versatile fullback is the first and only Nigerian player to win the Premier League Goal of the Month, back in the 2020-2021 season for his stunning finish against West Brom while wearing the colours of Fulham.
Speaking on a Premier League Productions programme monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com on Saturday night, Carney overpraised Aina, saying his thunderbolt would not have been saved by three goalkeepers.
"This one was pretty special, nice turn of feet there, strength, power. Just absolutely rocket and I don't think two or three goalies would have saved that," Carney noted.
"He just puts his foot through it with confidence, power, precision and he certainly was tenacious."
Only time will tell if Aina's screamer against the Hammers will be shortlisted for the Premier League Goal of the Month for November 2024.
