'Can play for Real Madrid' - Ex-West Ham defender surprised Osimhen agreed move to Galatasaray
Published: November 07, 2024Former West Ham defender Jeff Brazier has expressed his surprise at Victor Osimhen’s decision to join Turkish club Galatasaray, stating that the forward has the skill set to succeed at elite European clubs like Real Madrid.
His high-profile move to Galatasaray came after a summer full of speculation, with many expecting the Super Eagles forward to secure a transfer to one of Europe’s powerhouses.
The reigning African Footballer of the Year joined the Yellow-Reds on a season-long loan from Napoli in September, despite heavy interest from several top European clubs, including PSG, Chelsea, and Al-Ahli in Saudi Arabia.
Since arriving in Turkey, Osimhen has been in scintillating form, contributing four goals and four assists in just 7 appearances across all competitions.
His performances have played a vital role in Galatasaray’s strong start to the season, yet Brazier, now a sports reporter for TNT, believes the striker’s talents deserve to be showcased at an even higher level.
"With all due respect, Victor Osimhen 's arrival at Galatasaray was a surprise for the football world, he is at a level that can play for Real Madrid,'' Brazier told Ferhat Kızıltaş in an interview with habersarikirmizi.
Despite being at the forefront of Galatasaray's attacking line, speculation around Osimhen’s future continues to swirl.
Reports have already linked the Nigerian international with a possible move away from the Turkish giants in the January transfer window, with Chelsea and other top clubs reportedly monitoring his situation.
Additionally, there have been rumours about a permanent move to Galatasaray, with several sources suggesting the club is making efforts to secure his signature on a long-term basis next summer.
Reacting to the rumours, Brazier acknowledged the possibility of Osimhen staying in Turkey, revealing that reports suggest the striker is enjoying his time in Istanbul.
Should he decide to make the move permanent, Brazier believes it would be a significant boost for the club, helping Galatasaray compete for European honours.
"We hear that he enjoys playing here and may want to stay. This is a great thing for Galatasaray fans, who can dream of not only defending their league title but also winning trophies in Europe,” Brazier added.
As Galatasaray prepares for a crucial UEFA Europa League clash against Tottenham Hotspur today at the RAMS Park, all eyes will be on Osimhen as he looks to continue his remarkable form and help his side further cement their place among Europe’s elite.
