'He was surprised' - Super Eagles CB Ndah shares conversation with Eguavoen about injury
Published: November 22, 2024
Orlando Pirates central defender Olisa Ndah has expressed his disappointment and heartbreak following his latest injury setback.
The Nigerian international has been a key player for the Buccaneers, but his time at the club has been marked by several injuries.
Ndah's latest injury occurred during his side's 3-0 home win over Polokwane City in September and is expected to keep him sidelined for the rest of the year.
He was said to have sustained a fracture to his tibia, six minutes to the end of that game.
The 26-year-old has been working hard to regain his fitness and return to the pitch.
However, this latest setback has left him feeling frustrated and disappointed.
Ndah's absence will be felt by Orlando Pirates, who are currently top of the South African Premiership standings.
The former Akwa United player also stated that he spoke to Nigeria's caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen about his injury, and the coach was surprised by the news.
"I was down, basically. I wouldn't say I was depressed," Ndah said on SuperSport TV's Buc Change Room, via SNL24.
"I also spoke to the national team and spoke to coach (Augustine Eguavoen), and he was surprised.
"He told me to get well soon, and yes, this all happened in a short space, where I felt everything was going well for me.
"I'm just looking forward to recovery and playing well."
Ndah's injury is a huge blow to Orlando Pirates, who are competing for the Premiership title.
The Buccaneers will have to rely on other players to fill the gap left by Ndah's absence.
The injury setback has not dampened the Nigerian's spirits, and he remains committed to working hard and returning to the pitch as soon as possible.
Ndah missed Nigeria's internationals in November against Republic of Benin and Rwanda due to this unfortunate injury.
