'No better birthday present' - Belgian Pro League top scorer Arokodare after goal against Charleroi
Published: November 24, 2024Racing Genk's Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare celebrated his birthday in style, scoring a crucial goal in his team's 3-0 victory over Sporting Charleroi in a Jupiler Pro League on Saturday, November 23.
Arokodare's ninth goal of the season helped Genk bounce back from a demoralizing 4-0 defeat to Union St. Gilloise the previous weekend.
The match against Charleroi was a highly anticipated one, with Genk aiming to redeem themselves following the heavy defeat before the international break.
The first half was a frustrating one for the home team, with Charleroi's defense proving difficult to breach.
However, Genk turned up the heat in the second half, with Arokodare breaking the deadlock with a well-taken goal.
The Nigerian striker's goal was a significant one, not only because it gave Genk the lead but also because it marked the end of his two-game goal drought.
Arokodare's impressive form has made him the top scorer in the Jupiler Pro League, and his goal against Charleroi only solidified his position at the top of the scoring charts.
The 23-year-old's birthday goal was the perfect present for the Nigerian striker, who was thrilled with the victory.
The Genk striker also reflected his joy and satisfaction with the win, which helped Genk maintain their lead at the top of the Jupiler Pro League table.
"It feels good to win again after the heavy defeat before the break," Arokodare told Sporza via Voetbal Primeur.
"Scoring and winning at home, I couldn't imagine a better birthday present," he added.
Arokodare's impressive form this season has been a key factor in Genk's success. The former Amiens SC marksman has started all fifteen league matches for his club, establishing himself as one of the top strikers in the Jupiler Pro League.
