Striker whose dad was coached by Manu Garba scores brace for Chelsea youth team
Published: November 27, 2024
Chizaram Ezenwata, whose father Ndubisi Ezenwata was coached by former Nigeria's Golden Eaglets manager Manu Garba, was the star of the show when Chelsea U17s walloped Fulham 4-0 in the U17 Premier League Cup yesterday at Motspur Park, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
The talented striker scored twice to help the young Blues advance to the quarterfinals, with Sol Gordon and Harry McGlinchey scoring the other two goals.
The result helped Chelsea finish as group winners as Arsenal, who were tied on the same point with them heading into yesterday's game, lost to Charlton Athletic.
Ezenweta is one of the best youngsters in Chelsea Academy and has earned a lot of reviews for his proficiency in front of goal.
The 16-year-old has played six games in the U18 Premier League this term, four of which he has started and has bagged three goals and one assist.
He opened his goalscoring account with a brace against Brighton & Hove Albion at the Chelsea FC Cobham Training Ground in the opening matchday and wasn't on the scoresheet until the fifth game against West Ham United.
Ezenweta is obviously eligible to play for Nigeria through his dad, who has not hidden his dream to see him play for the West African side.
He currently represents England U17s and has played four games for the young Lions, scoring two goals.
