'Football is unpredictable' - Akpom not ruling out January exit from Ajax Amsterdam

Ajax striker Chuba Akpom has refused to rule out a possible departure from the Dutch Eredivisie club in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old has been with Ajax since the summer of 2023, after joining from Championship outfit Middlesbrough.
The former England youth international's situation at Ajax is complicated by the fact that the club has other top strikers on its roster.
Netherlands internationals Brian Brobbey and Wout Weghorst are both competing with Akpom for a starting spot, and Akpom is aware that he needs to perform well to keep his place in the team.
Akpom's future at Ajax has also been the subject of speculation in recent months.
Despite being one of the club's top scorers, Akpom has not always been a regular starter for the team.
Ajax coach Francesco Farioli, Akpom has been credited with turning things around at Ajax, and Akpom has been one of the beneficiaries of Farioli's tactics.
Despite this, Akpom is not ruling out a possible departure from the club in January.
"Not really. I was open to a good offer, but at the same time I didn't necessarily want to leave. And now I'm glad I stayed," the Hale End academy alum said in an interview with Het Parool.
"It feels like Ajax is coming back a little bit. It's cool to be part of that process. It's very different from last season.
"Football is unpredictable. I really like it here, but I don't know where I'll play in the future."
The former PAOK marksman's future at Ajax is likely to depend on several factors.
The club is currently competing in the Eredivisie, the Europa League, and the Dutch Cup, and Akpom is hoping to win all three competitions.
Ajax is currently doing well in all competitions, and Akpom has been an important part of the team's success.
This season, the 2022/2023 season's EFL Championship Player of the year has registered seven goal contributions (six goals and an assist) in nineteen games in all competitions for Ajax, and is still hoping for his first call-up to the Super Eagles.
