After signing new two-and-a-half-year deal with Man Utd, Obi-Martin shatters U18 PL goals record

Denmark U18 international of Nigerian descent, Chido Obi-Martin has overtaken former Everton striker Ellis Simms to become the highest goalscorer in U18 Premier League history, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

The Hale End Academy product added another remarkable chapter to his career by opening the scoring as Manchester United thrashed Stoke City 3-0 at Clayton Wood Training Ground on Saturday afternoon to surpass Ellis Simms, who tallied 36 goals for the Toffees.

After he was brought down by Otegbayo, Obi-Martin dusted himself down to convert the resultant penalty in the 71st minute and followed up with his signature celebration for the cameras.

Three of the top seven all-time scorers in U18 Premier League history are of Nigerian descent, with Folarin Balogun ranked third and Crystal Palace's Victor Akinwale in seventh.

Obi-Martin has had a great start to his Manchester United career when it comes to goalscoring, with five goals in five matches in the U18 Premier League.

The Danish-Nigerian center forward notched 32 goals in 20 matches in the division during his time as an Arsenal player.

Taking to Instagram on Saturday, Obi-Martin was delighted to become the record goalscorer in the history of the U18 Premier League.

The 17-year-old signed his first professional contract at Manchester United on Friday, tying him to the Red Devils until at least the end of the 2026-2027 season.

Fifa's regulations on the status and transfer of players state that 'players under the age of 18 may not sign a professional contract for a term longer than three years and any clause referring to a longer period shall not be recognised'.
