'Looks like an Italian model' - Former Besiktas star claims Osimhen outshines Immobile in ambition
Published: December 01, 2024
Former Besiktas midfielder Sinan Engin has suggested that Victor Osimhen's ambition sets him apart from Ciro Immobile, winner of Lazio's Player of the Year for 2019-2020.
Engin's remarks come in light of Osimhen's impressive performance since joining Galatasaray on loan from Napoli this summer.
Osimhen has quickly made a name for himself in the Super Lig, netting eight goals and providing five assists in just 11 appearances across all competitions.
His stellar performances have led to comparisons with various strikers in the league, but Engin believes Osimhen's drive and determination place him in a league of his own.
In quotes relayed by Galatasaray Gazetesi, Engin expressed his admiration for Osimhen, highlighting the player's journey and tenacity.
"Osimhen comes from an ambitious place, having struggled to survive in Africa. He bites the ball, struggles with the opponent, goes higher in the air than the goalkeeper."
Contrasting this with Immobile, Engin described the former Lazio forward as resembling an Italian model.
"On the other hand, you look at Immobile, he looks like an Italian model."
Engin's comments underscored the perception that while Immobile is a talented player, Osimhen's background and work ethic make him a standout in the current football landscape.
