Atalanta forward Lookman sets eyes on breaking personal record against Roma
Published: December 01, 2024
Ademola Lookman has set his eyes on breaking a personal record on Monday night when Atalanta take on AS Roma in an Italian Serie A clash scheduled to take place at the Stadio Olimpico, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Ahead of the visit to the Italian capital, the Nigeria international has not managed to find the back of the net in three consecutive away matches in the Serie A since joining Atalanta in August 2022.
In his debut season in the Italian top flight, Lookman scored in back to back away games in October 2022, against Udinese and FC Empoli.
Surpassing the individual record he achieved two years ago will be no easy feat, particularly as Roma, his least favourite opponent in Italy, have kept him quiet in two previous games.
Lookman was a surprise omission from Atalanta's starting lineup in a Champions League clash against BSC Young Boys on November 26.
The exclusion of the African Footballer of the Year nominee from the starting lineup was purely a tactical decision as manager Gian Piero Gasperini opted to rotate his squad.
This season, Lookman has found the back of the net seven times in Serie A, including three goals on the road.
The Charlton Athletic Academy product has been one of the standout performers for an in-form Atalanta side, contributing to their seven consecutive Serie A victories with eight goal involvements.
