'Different as night and day' - Galatasaray insider compares Osimhen's partnerships with Icardi, Batshuayi
Published: December 02, 2024
Galatasaray insider Oğuz Altay has shared his thoughts on Victor Osimhen's partnerships with Michy Batshuayi and Mauro Icardi, highlighting the differences in the Nigerian striker's performances when paired with either of the two players.
Galatasaray has been grappling with squad depth issues in recent matches, highlighting the importance of certain players to the team.
The absence of key players like Mauro Icardi and Kaan Ayhan due to injuries has significantly impacted the team's performance.
Victor Osimhen, who joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli in September, has been a game-changer for the Turkish giants.
In just twelve matches across all competitions, the Nigerian forward has scored nine goals and provided five assists, making him a crucial component of the team.
His impressive performances have caught the attention of top European clubs, sparking speculation about his potential exit.
The Nigerian international's contract with Galatasaray includes a break clause, allowing him to leave the club in January.
The KRT TV commentator highlighted the impact of Osimhen's collaborations with the different strikers at the club.
When paired with Icardi, Osimhen's game takes on a different dimension, with the two strikers complementing each other's strengths.
In contrast, his partnership with Batshuayi yields a distinctively different result, as seen in recent matches.
"Osimhen and Icardi playing as a centre forward and Osimhen and Batshuayi playing as a centre forward are as different as night and day," Altay said, according to Turkish outlet habersarikirmizi.
Osimhen's recent performances have been impressive, including his goal in Galatasaray's 1-1 draw with AZ Alkmaar in the UEFA Europa League last week.
