Super Eagles watch: Chukwueze hits brace on milestone appearance; Tella nets winner v Bayern
Published: December 03, 2024
Samuel Chukwueze bagged a brace in AC Milan's 6-1 victory over Sassuolo while Nathan Tella grabbed the winner to help Bayer Leverkusen advance to the quarterfinal of the DFB-Pokal at the expense of Bayern Munich.
Chukwueze opened the scoring in the 12th minute, maintaining composure to tap the ball into the net after a rebound came his way.
He then bagged his brace in the 21st minute, finding the bottom left corner after he had been set up by English striker Tammy Abraham.
Goals from Tijjani Reijnders, Rafael Leão, Tammy Abraham and Davide Calabria ensured that Paulo Fonseca's side progressed to the next round comfortably despite Samuele Mulattieri pulling one back for the visitors.
Chukwueze had not scored a brace for the Rossoneri before tonight's clash which coincided with his 50th appearance for the Italian giants.
Tella was the hero as Bayer Leverkusen defeated 10-man Bayern Munich 1-0 at the Allianz Arena.
The Super Eagles forward got the only goal of the game in the 69th minute, heading Alejandro Grimaldo's cross beyond Daniel Peretz who came in to replace the red-carded Manuel Neuer.
It was the 25-year-old first goal since the start of the campaign and his third goal involvement across all competitions.
