'He's lethal' - Tottenham great Glenn Hoddle hails versatility of two-footed Fulham midfielder Iwobi
Published: December 06, 2024
Tottenham Hotspur icon Glenn Hoddle has praised Alex Iwobi for his versatility following his outstanding performance during Fulham's 3-1 win against Brighton & Hove in a Premier League clash at Craven Cottage on Thursday night.
Iwobi is arguably in the best form of his professional career, contributing a goal or assist in every Premier League game over his last six appearances, except for the 2-1 win against Brentford on November 4.
Against the Seagulls, the Nigeria international capitalized on a defensive blunder to put the Cottagers ahead in the fourth minute and closed the scoring in the 87th minute with a sensational right footed finish.
Iwobi's impact goes far beyond finding the net as his tireless movement and dedication greatly benefit the Fulham team.
The Hale End Academy product started the match against Brighton & Hove in central midfield before moving to the flank.
Renowned for his skill during his playing days, Hoddle noted that Iwobi's current form has made him eager for the next games and highlighted the midfielder's proficiency with both feet.
Speaking on Premier League Productions post-match, monitored by allnigeriasoccer.com, Hoddle said: "He feels at home in a Fulham shirt. He's playing with a lot of confidence, he can play left as we've said before the game - left, right, in the center, off the front.
"He's lethal, left foot, right foot was it against Everton he got the goal and with his left foot tonight, right foot passes into the corner.
"He's a player at the moment that can't wait to get out and play the next game. You know when you have that confidence, you're playing well, other times when you're not playing well, it's like when is the next game?
"But he can't wait to go and play. If there's a game tomorrow...."
Iwobi has eight goal involvements in the Premier League this term, more than he managed in his first season at Fulham.
