Lookman breaks silence on reports linking him with Arsenal, Liverpool, Tottenham, Newcastle
Published: December 10, 2024
Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman has reacted to speculation in the media linking him with a return to the English Premier League.
It is claimed that a quartet of Premier League clubs are keeping tabs on the Nigeria international, namely Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur.
With his experience in the Premier League and status as a homegrown player, Lookman would make an interesting signing for an English top flight club.
Scouts from Arsenal, Liverpool, Newcastle United, and Tottenham have reportedly observed him closely this season, and the Ballon d'Or nominee must have impressed the talent spotters, having registered fifteen goal involvements (10 goals, 5 assists) in seventeen games across all competitions.
Things were not always rosy for the Charlton Athletic academy graduate as he struggled during his time at Everton, where he netted just once in thirty-six outings in the Premier League.
Lookman has now become one of the best forwards in the world since his transfer to Atalanta, with his impressive displays making him a sought-after player.
When questioned about the possibility of returning to England, London-born Lookman told Sporty TV: "Obviously the player that I was then is definitely the completely different player than I am today.
"And as a person, I have grown up and I've matured a lot, and I have been able to achieve a lot in my time here.
"That's also because I've been able to create a process in terms of my work and how I think and all different aspects of my life and areas that I could improve on and do which I have done.
"It's all becoming who I am today so I'm pleased with that and wherever the future takes you, we shall see."
Lookman has been named in Atalanta's starting lineup for their blockbuster Champions League clash against defending champions Real Madrid at the Gewiss Stadium on Tuesday night.
