Official: Versatile Nigeria-eligible forward signs new contract with Tottenham Hotspur
Published: January 03, 2025
Through a statement on the club's official website, Tottenham Hotspur have announced that versatile Nigeria-eligible forward Damola Ajayi has signed a new contract.
He signed his first professional contract last season and has now decided to extend his deal until 2028.
The 19-year-old is seen as one of Tottenham's promising stars, though he has yet to make his first-team debut for the North London side.
However, he has been named in the matchday once which was in the UEFA Europa League fixture with Hungarian side Ferencavaros last October.
Ajayi presently plays for the development side and has featured in 13 games combined in the Premier League 2 and EFL Trophy this term, scoring twice and providing one assist.
The London-born player, who plays either off the right or at centre-forward, has also represented Spurs in the Premier League International Cup and National League Cup.
Ajayi played a prominent role for the U21s as they scooped the Premier League 2 last season, featuring in six games in the regular season and scoring three goals while he also featured twice in the play-offs.
The reason behind his little game time for the U21s last season was due to his involvement with the U18s, having featured 17 times in the U18 Premier League, scoring 11 goals.
Ajayi was also part of the Spurs side that won the U17 and U18 Premier League Cup in the 2022/2023 season.
