Official: 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee returns to Crystal Palace from loan spell at EFL club
Published: January 03, 2025
With a statement on their official website, Premier League side Crystal Palace have announced that 2019 Golden Eaglets invitee Malcolm Ebiowei has returned to Selhurst Park from his loan spell at EFL Championship outfit Oxford United.
Ebiowei was initially set to spend the entire season at Oxford United but has returned to his parent club due to a lack of first team opportunities with the Yellows.
The Hale End Academy product made only one start from a possible twenty-six in all competitions, and logged 186 minutes spread across six matches.
His absence from Oxford United's last nine Championship games hinted that he was considered surplus to requirements.
Ebiowei spent the second half of the 2023-2024 season on loan with Belgian side RWD Molenbeek, where he registered one assist in five appearances, and has also spent time on loan at Hull City.
The former England U20 international played for the youth teams of Chelsea, Arsenal, Rangers and Derby County before Crystal Palace won the race for his signature in the summer of 2022.
He has not figured for Palace's first team since November 2022 when he came off the bench against Nottingham Forest in the Premier League.
Ebiowei, who is also eligible to represent the Netherlands, was named in Nigeria's provisional squad to the 2019 Fifa U17 World Cup.
