'Why doesn't anyone talk?' - Pundit claims Osimhen is stealing the limelight from Sara
Published: January 03, 2025
A Turkish pundit Cem Dizdar has has sparked controversy by suggesting that Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen is eclipsing Gabriel Sara with his remarkable displays on the field.
Osimhen, on loan at Galatasaray since September 2024, has been sensational, scoring 12 goals and providing 5 assists in 15 matches across all competitions.
His consistent goal-scoring feats have made him the centerpiece of the Yellow-Reds' attacking prowess and a prominent figure in Istanbul's football scene.
In contrast, Sara, who joined Galatasaray from Norwich City in England, has quietly contributed 2 goals and 6 assists in 15 league matches.
Despite his impactful play, particularly his creativity and precision in delivering assists, Sara has not received the same level of attention.
In quotes relayed by Habersarikirmizi, HT Spor commentator Dizdar questioned the disparity in recognition between the two players.
"Everyone talks about Victor Osimhen scoring too many goals, but why doesn't anyone talk about Gabriel Sara's assists?" Dizdar asked.
"Because Victor Osimhen is a showcase player, we only praise him. Gabriel Sara made such crosses in the Beşiktaş match that it was literally a pinpoint hit."
Dizdar highlighted Sara's contribution during the season's early stages, noting the skepticism he faced due to the hefty transfer fee Galatasaray paid and his background in England's second-tier Championship.
"He contributed two assists. At the beginning of the season, everyone was prejudiced because of the money he was paid and because he came from the Championship," Dizdar added.
While Osimhen continues to attract the limelight as one of Europe's most exciting African forwards, the pundit called for a more balanced appreciation of both players, emphasizing the critical role Sara has played in Galatasaray's season thus far.
