Osimhen recommends teenage Nigerian to Galatasaray, pundit challenges Romano on striker's future
Published: January 07, 2025
The future of Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray remains a subject of speculation despite the Napoli loanee making it clear that he wants to see out his contract at the Turkish Super Lig champions.
Italian transfer market guru Fabrizio Romano recently stated that there is a possibility that Osimhen will move club during the January transfer window, but at the moment, there is nothing advanced or close in terms of a transfer.
Despite missing pre-season preparations, Osimhen is having a good season at Galatasaray, registering eighteen goal involvements (13 goals, 5 assists) from sixteen appearances since landing in Turkey in September.
It was recently suggested that Manchester United approached Napoli to sign Osimhen, but the Super Eagles striker declined, opting to finish the season with Galatasaray in the Super Lig, a decision that has frustrated Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis.
Renowned Turkish journalist Ertem Şener has challenged Fabrizio Romano's report, insisting that Osimhen has no plans to depart Galatasaray during the January transfer window.
And to buttress his point, he revealed that the former African Player of the Year has recommended a teenage Nigerian player for a trial at Galatasaray.
In quotes relayed by habersarikirmizi.com, Ertem Şener said on his YouTube channel: "Osimhen says with his own words, 'I'm not going anywhere. I want to be a champion.' Is the aim of those making transfer news to drive Galatasaray fans crazy?
"Fabrizio Romano says for Osimhen, 'Osimhen can leave Galatasaray in January', Osimhen is not leaving and he is bringing someone from his family to try out in the U17 Team."
Napoli are hoping to earn at least 75 million euros (approximately N121 billion in Nigerian currency) from the sale of Osimhen, the value of the release clause in his contract.
