Osayi-Samuel offered ₦9.6b to extend Fenerbahce stay amid Crystal Palace links
Published: January 07, 2025
Super Eagles right-back Bright Osayi-Samuel has been offered a lucrative contract extension by his current club, Fenerbahce.
The Turkish giants are keen to retain the services of the 27-year-old defender, whose contract is set to expire at the end of the season.
According to reports from Turkish newspaper Sabah via Fanatik, Fenerbahce has offered Osayi-Samuel a three-year contract worth a total of 6 million euros (approximately ₦9 billion), following the player's recent demand of 2.5 million euros per year in previous negotiations.
The offer underscores the club's desire to keep the fullback, who has been an integral part of the team since joining from Queens Park Rangers in January 2021.
Osayi-Samuel's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with several clubs including Crystal Palace, reportedly interested in signing him.
The Nigerian international was spotted watching Crystal Palace's Premier League clash with Arsenal in December, fueling rumors of a potential move to the Eagles.
However, it appears that Fenerbahce are determined to keep Osayi-Samuel, who has been a key player for the club.
The defender has made 19 appearances for Fenerbahce this season, playing 1,313 minutes and contributing to the team's success.
Osayi-Samuel's agent has yet to respond to Fenerbahce's offer, and it remains to be seen whether the Nigerian fullback will accept the contract extension.
With several clubs interested in signing him, Osayi-Samuel has a difficult decision to make regarding his future.
It's worth noting that Osayi-Samuel has been linked with a move to Galatasaray, but the Turkish club's insider, Nevzat Dindar, recently revealed that they are not interested in signing the Nigerian defender.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce can only hope their new offer strengthens the chances of retaining Osayi-Samuel's services.
