Osimhen v Kvaratskhelia: Football expert names Paris Saint-Germain's primary target in January
Published: January 09, 2025
Italian journalist Rino Cesarano has revealed that Paris Saint-Germain's primary target for the January transfer window is Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen, rather than Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia.
Cesarano disclosed in an interview with Radio CRC, as reported by AreaNapoli.it, that PSG had initially committed to signing Osimhen from Napoli but has yet to fulfill their agreement with the Italian club.
"What I understand is that Paris-Saint Germain has not kept their word to Napoli regarding Osimhen. The Parisians' first objective in January is the Nigerian.
"He was also in Paris and spoke with Campos and the president. They want him," Cesarano stated.
The Ligue 1 giants had previously shown interest in signing Osimhen last summer, reaching personal terms with the Nigerian striker but failing to finalize a deal with Napoli.
Osimhen later moved to Galatasaray on loan, where he has excelled with 13 goals and five assists in 16 appearances across all competitions.
While PSG has also expressed interest in Kvaratskhelia, Cesarano clarified that the Georgian winger is not the club’s priority at the moment.
"The Parisians also like Kvaratskhelia, but not as a primary objective, he is secondary and not very current," Cesarano added.
He further claimed that PSG’s sporting director, Luis Campos, had assured Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis that the club would meet Osimhen’s release clause, but the promise has not yet been honoured.
"Campos had given his word to De Laurentiis for the Osimhen deal that he would have taken by paying the clause and this did not happen. At the moment the Parisians are in difficulty with the owner of Napoli," Cesarano concluded.
