Wolves and Ipswich Town in talks with Sevilla over loan deal for Super Eagles star Iheanacho
Published: January 09, 2025
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Ipswich Town have reportedly opened preliminary talks with Sevilla over a potential January transfer for Super Eagles forward Kelechi Iheanacho, according to Football Insider.
Iheanacho, who joined the Spanish club in the summer of 2024, has struggled to settle in La Liga, raising concerns over his future at the club.
The Nigerian striker has made 11 appearances across all competitions this season, scoring just three goals, a tally considered underwhelming by Sevilla's standards.
His struggles have prompted the Andalusian club to consider a mid-season exit, with both Wolves and Ipswich Town now engaging in discussions to bring him back to the Premier League.
The report adds that Sevilla has given the greenlight for the 28-year-old to leave on loan during the winter transfer window.
However, interest in Iheanacho is not limited to Wolves and Ipswich Town, as other Premier League sides and clubs across Europe’s top leagues have also reportedly expressed interest in securing his services.
Iheanacho previously enjoyed a productive spell in England with Leicester City and Manchester City, scoring 82 goals in 296 appearances across both clubs.
A return to the Premier League, where he is familiar with the pace and intensity, could help Iheanacho rediscover his form and boost his career revival after a difficult stint in Spain.
